The Strategy

The task of evangelizing 3 billion unreached people is enormous and Operation Mandate (OM) understands that every available believer is needed from every nation. OM’s strategy, however, is to multiply ourselves through raising up near-culture African believers to evangelize other Africans from unreached people groups.

Benefits:

  • Near-culture means that African believers have fewer cultural barriers to overcome than Western missionaries.
  • Many Africans grow-up in multi-lingual societies in which it is normal to know or acquire multiple languages.
  • African believers are already THERE or at least closer by than other missionaries. This helps tremendously with logistics, costs, and sometimes bureaucratic red-tape of various national governments.
  • Many African missionaries can be supported for the expense of one Western missionary. This is because even though many Western missionaries drastically reduce their standard of living to minister in other nations, they still tend to utilize far greater monetary resources than African believers living within African nations.

All of this adds up to more laborers in the harvest. OM’s goal is multiplication, meaning multiplying laborers to reach as many unreached people in as many places as possible.

Operation Mandate plans on training African believers to be missionaries who minister the Word of God and the Gospel in power with signs and wonders following. After graduation, OM will send graduates of the missions school to unreached people groups for evangelism and church planting. The training they will receive will be focused not on missions in general but specialized for reaching unreached peoples. Some of the topics they will learn are:

  • Bible Study
  • Prayer and Worship
  • Apologetics
  • World Religions, with Emphasis on Islam
  • Cross-Cultural Ministry
  • Church Planting
  • Preaching
  • Evangelism
  • Discipleship
  • Personal Life Transformation
  • Intimacy with God
  • Ministering in the Power of God
  • and more…

Our missions base is planned to be located within the nation of Cameroon. Cameroon has many Bible schools and pastoral ministry training programs but missions and missionary training is rare. Even more rare is missions training for unreached people groups in particular.

These signs will follow those who believe...

...they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.

-Mark 16:17a,18b (NKJV)

OM firmly believes that as Jesus and the early church ministered in signs and wonders, the ministry of today’s church should be no different, especially in Africa. We want people to turn from darkness and fear of traditional spiritual forces, to the overwhelming tangible love and power of God who cares about them enough to inject Himself personally into their lives. As such, OM will prioritize training and sending Holy Spirit empowered missionaries who are not afraid to take risks. They will be trained to back up the preaching of the Word by partnering with Father God for the miraculous. Many unreached people groups, especially those with Muslim backgrounds, are coming to Christ through divine God encounters. OM says yes and amen to what God is doing in the world today and want to do our best to offer ourselves as willing vessels that He can move through.

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.
— Jesus Christ, Matt. 10:8

and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.
— Apostle Paul, 2 Cor. 2:4&5

Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.
— Jesus Christ, John 14:12

Mobilizing the Church

Creating Missions Awareness

In order to help foster a culture of missions within African churches, it will be necessary to raise awareness of the need for African missionaries. The primary mode for ministry in many African nations is ministry to other Christians or at least nominally Christian groups. Within Cameroon for example, many believers are unaware that there are unreached people groups within neighboring nations or even millions within Cameroon itself. OM plans on creating relationships with the local church and local pastors to help mobilize the church, starting with the church in Cameroon for reaching the lost among unreached peoples.

In the Beginning...

Our First Steps

Before a school can be planted, OM will spend time laying the groundwork for its success. In the beginning, OM will focus on...

  • Relationship building with local churches, ministries and pastors in order to raise awareness about missions and about reaching unreached peoples in particular

  • Give ourselves to prayer and worship for the plans and purposes of God

  • Local evangelism emphasizing unreached tribes and/or Muslims in the nearby area as much as possible

  • Local discipleship of believers and helping train them in power evangelism

  • Regional travel within the country of Cameroon and to nearby countries for research and ministry purposes. This will be in order to start laying the groundwork for future African missionaries who will minister in these locations long-term.

After a season of the above activities (1 to 1.5 years), our plan is to begin our first class of future African missionaries. More details to come as we near that time. Of course, we submit our plans to the Lord and understand that He has the final say in all that we do. However, this is what OM desires to accomplish.
